Right before I got the news of Covid I distantly remember 5th period P.E. My friend Grace and I were laying on the track field under the lone redwood providing shade from the sweltering heat. A light breeze cooling us as the track field turned into a crockpot of fake grass, rubber, and tar. The smell of roses and cherry blossoms from the distant neighborhood mixed with the burning rubber of the track permeated the field into a floral sludge. As our classmates either walk or stumble along we drink mint yerba mates while the dreamy and fairy-like Isolation by Kali Uchis plays staring into shimmering horizon while we talk shit about anyone.

As we mark one long, sad, and boring year being in quarantine I celebrate staying alive while also being cute. Not only did I cut most of my hair, but I also cut off annoying, gross, petty bitches. As months went by I was just waiting for either a Mad Max ESC apocalypse where I get to ride a truck with Charlize Theron in the desert or the usual mundane life. In the picture above I have a parrot on my head, my hair dyed orange, wearing a pearl necklace, I have drank two monsters, and I have chipped nails while Fiona Apple's Criminal playing in the back and it's only 7:00 am on a Tuesday. Over quarantine I have learned nothing in life is coming for me and instead of cautiously waiting for nothing I would rather just do it for the fun of it even if I'll hate it.
